West Side Diving and tours

dive boat south seas doing some west side divingWest side diving and tours

There is currently (as of Jan 2023) only one dive boat operating on the west coast of Oahu, the South Seas II by Oahu Dolphin Divers.  They offer scuba diving daily, but snorkeling, whale and dolphin watching and private charters are competing activities for the vessels time.  The boat is first come first served, with the first booking deciding the day’s activities. If you want your choice of days, you should book early as someone booking another activity could freeze you out!

Dives sites include the Mahi wreck, LCU west, Black Rock, Airplane Canyon, 29 Down, Stars, Land of Oz, and the famous underwater lava tube site Makaha Caverns.  Oahu Scuba Diving Club members have access to member only club dives.

For scuba diving, the price point is more similar to Maui and Big Island prices.  The west side diving does have the advantage of being in the lee of the Waianae mountain range. This makes for the calmest ocean water conditions on the island of Oahu. At least when we are experiencing normal trade wind weather, which is 10-15 knots out of the NE.  Transportation is available from Ko Olina hotels.  The boat departs from Waianae Small Boat Harbor.
