Certification Courses on Oahu Military Bases ( JBPHH and Schofield )

You must have base access to sign up for these courses.  Island Divers Hawaii is the MWR contractor for Schofield and JBPHH and we use base pools for training.  If you are not DOD affiliated, our non-military options for courses are at this link.

*Guided Shore dives are off base and okay for all.

Weekend Courses that start on Thursday night in the pool

You can sign up every week for a course that is Thursday and Friday night in the pool on Hickam or Schofield (usually Hickam, Schofield pool is cold!) and the dives are two each on Saturday and Sunday.  On the first and third weekends of every month the two Sunday dives are on the boat out of Waianae Small Boat Harbor.  All other weekends all four dives are shore dives.

To join these classes you need to own a mask, snorkel, and fins with booties suitable for shore diving.  You can buy this gear at discounted student prices at the shops on Hickam (Pool #1 next to the gym) and Schofield (435 Ulrich Way in the Outdoor Rec building or shop in the PX).

Private Group Open Water Courses

Go solo or with a group of buddies.  Set your own schedule.  All boat dives, and no gear purchase required.  Prices vary depending on the size of the group, and you need a leader to be our single POC for your private group.

Continuing Education Courses

As you may or may not remember, to get a free Advanced Open Water Diver rating… yes, free… you do 4 specialty courses and log 24 dives.  We also do Advanced Adventurer courses if you want, but for locals, we prefer to develop your education with specialty certifications and logged dives.

Some popular specialty courses are Nitrox, Deep, Navigation, Diver Propulsion Vehicle, Night, Wreck, Advanced Wreck, Independent, Sidemout and Decompression Diver.  Soon, you will find Extended Range Foundations, Sidemount, and Extended Range Nitrox.

Guided Shore Dives (Open to all certified divers)

Our guided shore dives are available when our military affliated staff are – mostly weekend and holidays but recently retired staff are sometimes available on weekdays.  If you see it available online someone has told us they are available.  If you are TDY give us a call, we might find someone that wants to do a week day dive.  If you are a civilian and found your way to this page, and want to shore dive with our company, you can book these dives.  The instructor or divemaster will bring the gear to the beach.
